The European Union nominated five former members of its head office to coordinate plans for expanding transcontinental rail links in an effort to overcome snags in building the new lines.
Loyola de Palacio from Spain, will coordinate the planned rail link from the French city of Lyon through Italy and Slovenia to Hungary's eastern border with Ukraine.
